Our Wedding

OUR STORY

We first met in the fall of 2017 as freshmen at the University of Notre Dame, when Caroline’s Badin Hall friends visited Michael’s dorm, Knott Hall, to watch a football game. We quickly bonded over our Indiana roots—Caroline’s cousins had even gone to the same high school as Michael.

For the next two years, we remained close friends, until our junior year when we both studied abroad in London. While overseas, our friendship grew into something more. We spent weekends traveling through Europe, with our first kiss in Munich, our first official date in London, and becoming an official couple in Barcelona.

After abroad, we returned to South Bend to finish college, then started our post-grad lives with Michael in Indianapolis and Caroline in Chicago. For two years, we navigated long distance, spending weekends visiting each other and exploring both cities. Eventually, Caroline moved to Indianapolis, where we loved many trivia nights, golf outings, and weekends at Lake Wawasee.

In August 2024, we took the leap west to Seattle, where we’ve loved spending our time skiing, wake surfing, hiking, playing tennis, having game nights, and exploring the islands of the Pacific Northwest. On August 2, 2025, one of the best days of our lives, Michael proposed at Caroline’s parents’ home, and Caroline, of course, said yes!

We’re so grateful for the love and support of our family and friends throughout our journey, and we can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with you. Thank you for being a part of our love story!

No visit to Seattle is complete without experiencing Pike Place Market, home to the city’s famous fish throwers and gum wall. We love spending weekend mornings here, grabbing a coffee and a bouquet of flowers, while taking in the views of the waterfront and skyline. One of the things we have loved about living in Seattle is the opportunity to explore the beautiful islands of the Pacific Northwest. For a lovely day trip (or even just a few hour adventure), consider taking the ferry from the Seattle Waterfront at Pier 52 to Bainbridge Island. The scenic ride takes approximately 30 minutes and offers gorgeous views of the city skyline and Puget Sound. Once you arrive, it’s an easy walk from the ferry terminal to Winslow’s main street, where you’ll find coffee shops, local restaurants, art galleries, and antique stores.

On weekends, we love to get outside and explore the beautiful nature surrounding Seattle, especially the trails in the North Cascade Mountains. A few of our favorite hikes include Franklin Falls, Snow Lake Trail, Annette Lake Trail, and Lake 22. Note: A Northwest Forest Pass ($5) may be required for these hikes.

Our favorite spots to dine out or grab a coffee in Seattle include The Pink Door, Carmines, Mioposto, Cantinetta, Din Thai Fung, Wild Ginger, Momiji Sushi, Ivar's, Saint Bread, Grand Central Bakery, Macrina Bakery, and Stoneway Café.

Things to Do

Shuttle service will run to and from the Fairmont Olympic Hotel for each event on Friday and Saturday. Pick up and drop off are on Seneca St (the back of the hotel). There is a convenient door in the lobby that opens right to where the shuttles will pick you up.

Additionally, there are many convenient options to get around including Uber, Lyft, and the Seattle Link Light Rail. The Seattle Yacht Club, St. Joseph Parish, and the Admiral's House also have parking available for those who would like to drive.

Transportation

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?

The Lakeside Kickoff and Welcome Party will both be a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces. Saturday's wedding and celebration will also be a combination of indoor and outdoor events: the ceremony will be held in the church, followed by dinner and dancing outside.Late August in Seattle is typically warm and dry but there is always a chance of sprinkles! The weather is normally in the low 70s but evenings can cool down into the high 50s. Since our reception is on the Puget Sound, there may be a light breeze coming in off the water.

What is the dress code for your wedding?

Thursday's Lakeside Kickoff will be casual and Friday's Welcome Party will be cocktail attire. Saturday's wedding celebration will be formal attire. We recommend midi or long dresses for ladies, and a suit or tux for gentlemen. As the evening may be cool, we suggest bringing a wrap or jacket.

What is the best way to get to Seattle?

We recommend flying into Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA), which is about a 25-minute drive to downtown Seattle and offers direct flights from most cities. Once you arrive, there are many convenient options to get to your hotel. Uber, Lyft, and taxis are readily available at the airport, and rental cars are also an option. Additionally, the Seattle Link Light Rail departs directly from the airport and has stops very close to the downtown hotels.
